Open To The Public

Trails at the Mine Creek Battlefield State Historic Site may be walked sunrise to sunset. The visitor center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Monday and is closed on Tuesdays and holidays.

Directions To The Mine Creek Battlefield

From Kansas City: Take I-35 South for 11 miles to the US-69 South/Overland Parkway Exit (#225B). Then, after about a mile, merge onto US-69 South. Take US-69 South 56 miles to Pleasanton, Kan. The site is located two miles south and one mile west of Pleasanton on Kansas Highway 52. Take US-69 south two miles and turn west onto K-52. Travel a half mile to the site entrance on the south side of K-52.

From St. Louis: Take I-70 West for 242 miles to the I-435 South Exit (#8A) towards Wichita. Then, after about a half mile, merge onto I-435 South. Take I-435 South 16 miles to the US-169/Metcalf Avenue Exit. Merge onto US-169 South and travel 3.5 miles, where US-169 becomes US-69. Take US-69 South 56 miles to Pleasanton, Kan. The site is located two miles south and one mile west of Pleasanton on Kansas Highway 52. Take US-69 south two miles and turn west onto K-52. Travel a half mile to the site entrance on the south side of K-52.

From Wichita:
Take the I-35/Kansas Turnpike (portions toll) for 77 miles to the I-35 Exit (#127) towards US-50/Emporia/Ottawa. Then, after about a quarter mile, merge onto I-35 North. Take I-35 North 95 miles to the I-435 East Exit (#222A). Travel a half mile and then merge onto US-50 East for two miles. Take the US-69 South Exit (#81). Keep right at the fork in the ramp towards Ft. Scott. Take US-69 South 56 miles to Pleasanton, Kan. The site is located two miles south and one mile west of Pleasanton on Kansas Highway 52. Take US-69 south two miles and turn west onto K-52. Travel a half mile to the site entrance on the south side of K-52. holidays.
